Dentro de su t\u00e9rmino municipal se encuentran los Parajes Naturales de las <strong>Marismas del Odiel <\/strong>y los <strong>Enebrales <\/strong>de Punta Umbr\u00eda, dos espacios naturales de gran inter\u00e9s ecol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Su origen est\u00e1 en la<strong> torre vig\u00eda <\/strong>construida por el Ayuntamiento de Huelva en el siglo XVI, aunque la poblaci\u00f3n no aparece hasta el siglo XIX. S\u00f3lo quedaba una torre de vigilancia de tiempos de Carlos III, un puesto de polic\u00eda aduanera y algunas casetas de pescadores. En 1896 unos <strong>ingleses <\/strong>pertenecientes a la Riotinto Mining Company construyeron varias casas de madera de estilo colonial para los directivos de la empresa. En los a\u00f1os de 1920 llegaron los primeros veraneantes espa\u00f1oles y se establece un servicio regular de transporte fluvial con Huelva.
